Inspiring Lessons Learned

I remember seeing the email, “If your team doesn’t have a coach then you can’t play.” and thinking to myself, “It can’t be that difficult can it?” Twelve T-ballers later and a practice plan that might as well have become a coloring book. Welcome to coaching youth sports.

On my journey coaching youth sports, I’m constantly amazed at how much crossover there is between how you build a team out on the field, and how you build a team in an office. But it’s rare to see these two worlds blend together. The skills I’ve developed—like patience, empathy, communication, skill enhancement, fostering individual growth, and self-care—have significantly benefited me in both my personal and professional life.

Every triumph and setback on the field serves as a stepping stone towards personal and professional growth. The dedication and teamwork I witness in youth sports echo the core values essential for a thriving professional environment. So why don’t we always see it? I hope to share insights and lessons I’ve learned coaching that help you think about office leadership differently, and help you build a culture that fosters true teamwork and collaboration.
